I've had to make a change to the feeds from this site and I apologise to those of you who were enjoying receiving the full content of my posts. Unfortunately, I had to replace the full feeds with summaries due to the unscrupulous behaviour of some sites that were republishing my tutorials under their names.
I like the convenience of receiving a complete article from sites that I follow and I had hoped that the copyright notice on the Mambo Tutorials feeds would have dissuaded those who like to steal content. Instead, some sites just stripped out the notice and republished anyway.
So, because of the actions of a few, everyone now has to put up with the inconvenience of receiving only a summary. This is something you will also need to consider with the RSS feeds you provide from your sites.
At one point last week there were nine sites running the full content from mambo-tutorials.com. Several of these were appearing higher in search engine results than the original content. I am not aiming for high rankings on the phrase, "Mambo Tutorials" because the purpose of this site is to provide information to users of the Mambo CMS. I optimise each page based on the content of the page itself, treating each tutorial and article as a stand-alone resource. Consequently, when my content appears in sites in such a way that it is treated as original content for that site then my own work is at risk of being interpreted as duplicate content by search engines. I don't believe that helps either this site or its readers.
Do you prefer to receive full feeds or are you happy with an informative summary? Do you provide full feeds from your Mambo sites? I'm interested in hearing your views on this subject.
