Why HTML Heading Tags Are So Important

HTML heading tags are an important part of any web page because they provide a hierarchical structure to the page. In the tutorial, "What is a Document Outline?" we looked at how heading tags define the structure and discussed the common misconception that headings provide visual styling to a page. Then we looked at how to create a proper document structure in Mambo by not using the in-built page titles function. (Once Mambo 4.7 is released it will be possible to create a correct document structure without using that workaround).

Recently, I came across a YouTube video that also discusses the importance of HTML headings. The Web is such a visual medium these days that it can be difficult to understand that heading tags are not presentational elements, and to get to grips with their importance. This video adds to the tutorials I have already posted. Enjoy!
